Hello friends! I’m so happy a lot of you enjoyed my “February Favorites” post last week! I know a few of you even went and picked up a couple of my favorite items and that makes me all kinds of happy! I love finding budget-friendly solutions to common problems as well as little décor additions that are creative and also won’t break the budget.
Speaking of décor additions…I stumbled upon a little fun project that helps me use my creative juices and gives me a sense of calm at the same time. As I was scrolling through Pinterest quotes, I had a lightbulb moment. People have always complimented my handwriting (well, except for my high school math teacher…he hated it…rude). And many have asked me to address everything from wedding invitations to Christmas cards for them. I love doing it!
And Lord knows, we all need a creative outlet, am I right??
One of the BEST things about this little project…it’s so easy. I mean, it’s just writing things down. It takes absolutely no deductive reasoning skills or worse yet…math skills. And, I like making things look pretty so, it’s rewarding to see the finished product. But I’ve never even considered it as an art form. Like. At. All. I always just thought it was like a neat little parlor trick.
Maybe you can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under a minute. I have unusual handwriting. So…basically the same thing.
Anyway, I decided to go buy some nice cardstock paper and some calligraphy pens (I don’t actually know how to do calligraphy though) and see what I could come up with. Using some of my favorite quotes and a few little ideas I had of my own, I started writing.
And I loved it!
It was such a stress reliever and so much fun to do!
I need more paper and more pens in ALL the colors! Stat!!
I haven’t gotten good enough at it to frame anything yet but, I did clip my favorite one to my new office clipboard and I think I love it! I just completed a whole office makeover because I needed to lighten and brighten. It turned out exactly how I wanted! Hooray! I will share that in another post though. For now, check out my handwriting art on my clipboard…
I also took a canvas I painted awhile back and added this little quote…
What do you do for your creative outlet? I’d love to hear from you! If you don’t have something, I hope this post inspired you to look for one. 🙂
Until next time…xoxo
